What is ASET and the role of our Association?

The Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET) is the professional organization for technicians and technologists in the province of Alberta and the Canadian Territories. ASET was incorporated on August 1, 1963.

ASET evaluates the qualifications of individuals who voluntarily apply for certification, and issues professional credentials accordingly based on national standards related to education, experience, and professionalism.

ASET members consists of approximately 18,000 individuals, including full-time technology students, recent graduates, and fully-certified members.

ASET works closely with The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) to advance the relationship which exists between engineers and technologists in the workplace.

Why join ASET?

The benefits of membership in ASET are often experienced differently by our individual members.

For some, the primary reason for applying is the desire to have a professional credential that demonstrates the indvidual's career committment to their colleagues and clients. Many employers today either require or prefer certified technicians and technologists.

To others, there are more tangible reasons, such as group insurance plans, that make membership ideal.
